October 5, 1937 – December 1, 2021
Anna Mae Trosclair Champagne, a longtime resident of Franklin, passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Anna Mae was born in Houma on October 5, 1937 and was one of nine children born to the union of Joseph and Laurencia Trosclair. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had a sweet and quiet demeanor. She always put the needs of others before her own and was content to remain “behind the scenes”, never wanting attention drawn to herself. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening and tending to her flowers and plants, spending time outdoors, and especially cooking for her family and spending time with those she loved. Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family takes great comfort in knowing that her suffering in this life has ended and that she is now enjoying eternity with her Lord and Savior and all her loved ones who have gone before her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her children, Cheryl Sinnott and her husband Leo, Darlene Denton and her husband Dale, Danny Champagne and his wife Denette, and Angela Champagne; ten grandchildren, Jenny Howe, Greg Haydel Jr., Joanie Luke, Rusty Denton, Travis Denton, Heather Landry, Alaina Borne, Broc Buckner, Camen Dooley, and Payton Champagne; 16 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; her brother, Raymond “Ivy” Trosclair; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster Joseph Champagne Jr.; her daughter, Sandra Champagne; her son, Dwayne Champagne (who passed away the day prior); her great granddaughter, Hannah Landry; her parents, Joseph Trosclair and Laurencia Martin Trosclair; her brothers, Calvin, Murphy, Albert, Abbie, Percy, and Robert Trosclair; and her sister, Rosemary Brasseaux.
Funeral services will be held in conjunction with her son’s funeral on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 12:00 noon at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin. Following the services, she and Dwayne will be laid to rest in Perpetual Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Champagne, Darlene Denton, Dale Denton, Greg Haydel Jr., Broc Buckner, and Camen Dooley. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Ibert’s from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help alleviate funeral expenses. Contributions may be made at Ibert’s or through Ibert’s payment center at https://www.iberts.com/services/payment-center/find-obituary.
