St. Mary Parish Schools Earn Strong Marks in Latest State Performance Scores

St. Mary Parish, LA — St. Mary Parish Public Schools received its annual performance report from the Louisiana Department of Education, maintaining a solid “B” district rating with a District Performance Score of 84.6, up from 82.9 last year. The district now ranks 27th out of 70 statewide, surpassing the state average of 80.9. School report cards, available on the Louisiana School Finder, highlight strong academic growth and and overall student achievement.

The St. Mary Early Childhood Network earned an overall performance rating of High Proficient, reflecting exceptional support and early learning outcomes for young students.

12 Schools Demonstrate Significant SPS Growth

The following schools showed notable gains in School Performance Scores:

LaGrange Elementary (+9.7)

Julia B. Maitland Elementary (+8.2)

Berwick High (+5.7)

J.S. Aucoin Elementary (+5.1)

Morgan City Junior High (+4.6)

W.P. Foster Elementary (+4.5)

Morgan City High (+2.9)

West St. Mary High (+2.8)

Patterson Junior High (+2.7)

Centerville High (+2.3)

Franklin Senior High (+2.1)

Wynadotte Elementary (+0.4)

Top Gains Schools Announced

Nine schools earned the Top Gains designation, receiving a letter grade of “A” for student progress:
J.S. Aucoin Elementary, Bayou Vista Elementary, Berwick Elementary, Berwick High, Julia B. Maitland Elementary, Hattie Watts Elementary, Wynadotte Elementary, B. Edward Boudreaux Middle, and Raintree Elementary.

Four Schools Earn “Opportunity Honoree” Distinction

Schools that outperform 90% of Louisiana campuses among various student groups earned the state’s Opportunity Honoree status:

Franklin Senior High

Morgan City High

Patterson High

West St. Mary High

15 Schools Recognized as Honor Roll Schools

Schools receiving an “A” or “B” for overall School Performance Score include:
Berwick High (100.8), Franklin Senior High (100.3), West St. Mary High (95.9), Patterson High (94.0), Morgan City High (90.9), Wynadotte Elementary (85.9), Centerville High (83.7), Berwick Elementary (83.3), Patterson Junior High (80.8), Berwick Junior High (80.7), J.S. Aucoin Elementary (80.4), Bayou Vista Elementary (78.5), Julia B. Maitland Elementary (78.3), B. Edward Boudreaux Middle (77.3), and Hattie Watts Elementary (75.4).

Continued Growth Noted in “C” Rated Schools

Four schools showed improvement while earning a “C” rating:
Raintree Elementary (74.4), Franklin Junior High (64.7), E.M.E. Norman Elementary (64.7), and Morgan City Junior High (63.0).
W.P. Foster Elementary (59.3) and LaGrange Elementary (57.3) are receiving targeted support through district and state partnerships to accelerate progress.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Rachael Sanders praised the district’s strong performance:
“St. Mary Parish Public Schools has consistently made progress facing challenging state accountability standards. The commitment to student growth and achievement in every school is praiseworthy, and the data released today reflects many accomplishments.”
