The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate who was discovered unresponsive at the Iberia Parish Jail on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
According to officials, 49-year-old James Moore of Tupelo, Mississippi, was found in the shower area of the facility. Deputies and medical personnel responded immediately, and Moore was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The case is currently under investigation by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigations. No further details have been released at this time.
