A tragic incident has unfolded Tuesday morning in Pierre Part, where a 3-year-old child died after being found in a swimming pool.
According to Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lonny Cavalier, deputies received a call shortly after 8:00 am reporting the child being discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool. Emergency responders, including Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies, Pierre Part Fire and Rescue and Acadian Ambulance arrived on the scene, and the child was airlifted by Acadian Air Med to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Despite efforts to save the toddler, the child was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
