Mary Crochet Norris Theriot passed away at the age of 86 at Legacy of Franklin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center during the early morning hours of Friday, November 1, 2024.
Mary was born in Cade on May 2, 1938, the eleventh of twelve children born to the union of Gilbert and Elizabeth Crochet. She had a love for gardening, music, family get-togethers, and playing pool. She was also a devoted member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Franklin. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her five children, David Norris and his companion John Breaux, Sheryl Norris Fitch and her husband John, Mary Katherine LaRive and her husband Troy, Wilson “Billy” Norris Jr., and Anthony James “Jamie” Norris Sr. and his fiancé April Hoffpauir; her two step-daughters, Flavia Theriot Alcina and her husband Michael and Tressie Theriot Carter and her husband Ken; her grandchildren, John Fitch Jr., Kayla Norris, Joshua Norris, Leslie Landry and her husband Brian, Christopher LaRive and his wife Kayla, Katie Lynn Norris, and Anthony James “A.J.” Norris Jr., Angel Lambert and her husband Wayne, Lance Terry, Kelly Doiron and her husband Randy, Joseph Michael Alcina II and his wife Mandy, and Cody Carter; her sister, Beth Crochet Younger and her husband Floyd; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvoid Joseph Theriot; her step-daughter, Betty Theriot McNeely; her parents, Gilbert Joseph Crochet and Elizabeth Dupuis Crochet; her siblings, Emmet, Murphy, Edward, Gilbert, Jr., Herman, Eli, and Herbert Paul Crochet, Elvidge Crochet, Shirley Migues, and Annie Mae Boudreaux Breaux; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Alcina.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with Mr. Lynn Fontenot officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in Perpetual Park Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Billy Norris, Jamie Norris, A.J. Norris, Christopher LaRive, John Fitch Jr., and Joshua Norris, with Brian Landry Sr. and Brian Landry Jr. as honorary pallbearers.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday at Ibert’s Mortuary from 11:00 AM until time of service.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Legacy of Franklin and Hospice of Acadiana for their loving and compassionate care given to Mary during her time of need.
