The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that two highway projects are in the works for St. Mary Parish, including the much-needed repairs to the Bayou Ramos bridge.
DOTD tells KQKI News the Bayou Ramos bridge project involves repairing the concrete deck girder bridge that was struck by a barge in January 2022. The project was let out to bid in August and Louisiana DOTD Public Information Officer Deidra Druilhet tells KQKI News the apparent low bidder for the project was Reliant Industrial Solutions L.L.C. When asked for an approximate timeline for the construction to begin, Druilhet said they won’t have more information about construction details until the contractor is confirmed.
Additionally, Highway 90 between Centerville and Calumet will be overlayed in the near future. Druilhet says the project involves a mill, overlay and concrete rehab of a two-mile section of U.S. 90 from approximately 1.6 miles south of La. 317 to 1.2 miles north of Wax Lake Outlet, which is the area between Centerville and Calumet. However, DOTD does not have an estimated bidding date for the project at this time.
