Chase Michael Heuring, a 21-year-old resident of Mercury Rd, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on October 24th, 2023 at 6:06 pm. He faces charges of possession of marijuana/derivatives with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity, and improper lane usage.
Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division investigators observed a car driven by Heuring weaving along U.S. 90 and crossing the fog line several times. This led to a traffic stop on Sixth St. in Berwick. Reports state that investigators smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle during the stop.
A search of the vehicle revealed a large number of vape pens containing THC. Additionally, they found US currency believed to have been obtained from illegal sales. Heuring’s vehicle was released to an uninvolved third party while he was taken into custody and transported to Morgan City Jail for booking.
Further investigation led to evidence that Heuring had engaged in conversations involving illicit marijuana sales near Brashear Ave shortly before his apprehension. After questioning him, Heuring admitted to having more marijuana stashed in a bag at an address on Brashear Ave.
Narcotics Division investigators visited the Brashear Ave location, where they learned that the individual who had picked up Heuring’s belongings post-arrest was also in possession of his vehicle. Upon arriving at the suspect’s residence in Amelia, LA, investigators located and recovered a bag containing numerous individually packaged bags of suspected marijuana along with packaging materials commonly used for illicit sales.
In addition to the marijuana bags, authorities seized a large number of THC vape pens and more US currency from illegal sales. The total weight of the confiscated marijuana amounted to 1.45 pounds alongside 304 THC vape cartridges, and $7,210 in US currency that is now awaiting forfeiture proceedings.
Heuring was booked and charged accordingly, and currently awaits his court proceedings at the Morgan City Jail.
