St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 31 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Lawrence Bernard Payne Jr., 60, Houma, LA, was arrested on October 4, 2023, at 6:37 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, and obstruction of public passage. Bail was set at $29,100.
Preston Jamal Wade, 33, Amelia, LA, was arrested on October 4, 2023, at 6:46 pm on the following charges:
- Assault-aggravated
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of synthetic cannabinoids
- Obstruction of justice-tampering
Bail has not been set at this time.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
