The highly anticipated film “Ada and the Doc” is set to premiere at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium on September 20, 2023, at 7:30 P.M. The event will include a Jambalaya dinner, an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, and a Q&A session with the cast and crew.

Tickets for the event are priced at $10.00 and can be purchased at the door or in advance via the Artist’s Guild Unlimited, Morgan City Public Library, or online. All proceeds from ticket sales will be used to support the distribution and marketing efforts for this 15-minute proof-of-concept film.

The mastermind behind “Ada and the Doc” is Matison Leblanc, a Louisiana-based filmmaker and native of Morgan City, who has been studying at Savannah College of Art and Design. Her senior thesis film aims to shed light on themes such as women’s roles in society, corruption, and the consequences of small-town gossip.

She has earned nominations for her previous works through various festivals and competitions.

Leblanc said she firmly believes that the story of Ada and the Doc – encompassing a love affair, scandal, murder, and a trial that revolutionized the justice system – deserves an opportunity to reach audiences far and wide.
