BAYOU L’OURSE – Meghann Rebekah Scarbrough, 35, was arrested by Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon on felony charges after an auto theft complaint at Moffett Court on Saturday afternoon.

Deputies arrived at the scene following a report of someone attempting to steal a vehicle. They found Scarbrough sitting on the ground near the complainant. The complainant explained that Scarbrough had come to the house to charge her cell phone and was allowed to do so. However, she later tried to drive away in a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The complainant managed to stop her and remove her from the vehicle.

Scarbrough was arrested and taken to jail, where she damaged Sheriff’s Office equipment during transport. She was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, and criminal damage to public property. Scarbrough is currently in custody awaiting a bond hearing.
