Jeanerette – On July 24, 2025, just before 4:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a serious injury crash involving a juvenile pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 674 (E Admiral Doyle Drive) near the intersection of Whitney Drive in Iberia Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 11-year-old Nahelie Sinitiere of Jeanerette.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Sinitiere was attempting to cross LA Hwy 674 from the eastbound shoulder. At the same time, a 2007 Honda Civic was traveling east on LA Hwy 674. For reason still under investigation, Sinitiere entered the eastbound lane and was struck by the Honda.

Sinitiere was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda was properly restrained and not injured.

The driver of the Honda was not suspected of being impaired and voluntarily provided a breath sample, which showed no alcohol was detected.

On July 28, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified that Sinitiere succumbed to her injuries. This crash remains under investigation.
