Walmart in Franklin Evacuated Due to Smoke in Building, Firefighters Respond

Walmart in Franklin was evacuated with two area fire departments responding after smoke was due to smoke being discovered in the building.

At 7:51 pm, Franklin and Centerville Fire Departments were dispatched to Walmart on Northwest Boulevard. As crews arrived, the building was being evacuated and firefighters located a light haze in the front of the building. They then located two air conditioning units that had malfunctioned and overheated.

Crews cleared the haze from building and isolated power to the AC units.  The Walmart maintenance division was notified for repairs. The Walmart corporate office will determine if the store will reopen on Saturday night.
