Walmart in Bayou Vista was briefly evacuated Saturday morning due to a small electrical fire in the meat department. Bayou Vista Fire Chief Gerald Price said firefighters were dispatched to Walmart at 10:32 am for wires burning in a meat display case. The store was evacuated by Walmart management for the safety of the customers.

He said the fire was contained to the meat case.  No other damage or injuries were reported. The store reopened at 11:09 am.  The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
