During the week of August 28th to September 1st, Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin has announced Voter Registration Week. The St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voters is organizing events aimed at registering Louisiana citizens to vote. These events include visits to St. Mary Parish high schools and a series of Voter Registration Drives at local libraries.

Citizens attending these library events will be able to register to vote, update their existing registration, and learn about absentee voting by mail. Deadlines for in-person or mail registrations and updates are set for September 13, 2023, while online modifications must be completed by September 23, 2023.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • August 28, Berwick Library (9am-11am) and Baldwin Community Center (2:30pm-4:30pm)
  • August 29, Franklin Library (2:30pm-4:30pm)
  • August 30, Centerville Library (1:00pm-3:00pm)
  • August 31, Patterson Library (9am-11am) and Amelia Library (2:30pm-4:30pm)
  • September 1, Bayou Vista Library (9am-11am)

Also important to note is that precinct changes occurred over the summer due to statewide redistricting. New Voter ID cards have been issued to affected voters. Voters should verify their information ahead of the elections by contacting the Registrar’s office at (337) 828-4100 or (985) 384-8638 or visiting www.geauxvote.com.

High school students interested in registering should ask their guidance counselor about scheduled dates and times for voter registration events at their schools. All nine St. Mary Parish High Schools, including Morgan City High and Central Catholic High, are taking part in the registration campaign.
