NEW IBERIA – Louisiana State Police Troop I is investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred on November 26, 2025, shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 86 near Big Don Lane in Iberia Parish. The crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Stuart Hulin of St.

According to preliminary findings, Hulin was driving a 2014 Audi Q5 eastbound on LA Hwy 86 when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve. The Audi ran off the roadway and overturned.

Hulin, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

State Police collected a standard toxicology sample from Hulin, which has been submitted for analysis. The investigation remains ongoing.

While acknowledging that not all crashes are survivable, State Police emphasize that wearing a seat belt significantly reduces the risk of severe injury or death. Louisiana law requires all occupants, regardless of seating position, to remain properly restrained at all times.
