Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue revealed the arrest of two individuals linked to an extensive investigation. Donald Mathews, 45, and Brock McLaughlin, 35, both from Thibodaux, Louisiana, were charged with Solicitation for Murder. Mathews faces additional Contempt of Court charges and has a bond set at $326,664.50, while McLaughlin’s bond is set at $250,000.
The arrests followed a prolonged probe by the Thibodaux Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division into a missing juvenile case. During their inquiries, detectives uncovered an unrelated murder conspiracy that ignited a separate investigation. On September 27, 2023, significant advancements were made in the case and both suspects were apprehended. Mathews was detained within Thibodaux city limits by the police department’s S.W.A.T team, while McLaughlin was captured in Terrebonne Parish with assistance from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Zeringue expressed gratitude to Sheriff Timothy “Tim” Soignet and his department for their collaboration in the ongoing investigation. Both defendants are currently held at Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.
