Sheriff Tim Soignet states that a muti-agency effort resulted in the arrest of three individuals for a Murder for Hire that resulted in the deaths of two innocent women.
Sheriff Soignet advised that on January 13, 2021 Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 103 Montegut St where they found two deceased females suffering from gun shot wounds. The two females were identified as Brittany Cormier (34 years of age residing in Montegut, LA) and Hope Nettleton (37 years of age residing in Montegut, LA). Through the investigation, it was learned that Brittany’s brother, Beaux Cormier had been arrested in Vermillion Parish for third degree rape of his niece. This is a pending criminal case in Vermillion Parish court system. Beaux is currently a convicted sex offender.
Sheriff Soignet advised that a team of Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime detectives travelled to Lafayette Parish and began working with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office to successfully close this case. The team of detectives remained in the Lafayette area for several days working on this investigation.
Through the investigation, it was learned that the rape arrest resulted in Beaux Cormier (35 years of age residing in Kaplan, LA) soliciting the assistance of his friends, Andrew Eskine (25 years of age residing in CARENCRO, LA) and Dalvin Wilson (22 years of age residing in Eunice, LA) to murder the victim of the Rape. It was at this time, Dalvin and Andrew were both financial compensated to carry out the murder. It was learned that the three travelled to Montegut, LA to do surveillance on the residence prior to the homicide and had actually attempted to carry out the homicide on a prior occasion but were unsuccessful. At the time of the homicides on January 13, 2021, Andrew Eskine was out of town at work, however facilitated the vehicle and plan to carry out the murders.
Sheriff Soignet advised that Brittany Cormier was murdered as a result of telling the shooter she was in fact the Rape victim, likely saving the life of the actual Rape victim. Sheriff Soignet advised that Hope Nettleton, who was at the address visiting Brittany, attempted to fight the gunman and was fatally shot.
Sheriff Soignet advised he would like to personally thank Sheriff Mark Garber Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Mike Couvillon Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff K.P. Gibson Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Eunice Police Department, and the Eunice City Marshal’s Office for their assistance in this investigation and the apprehension of these dangerous individuals.
