Thibodaux Man Charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder After Shooting in Napoleonville in Early May 2022

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jakeem Ramon Coler, 19, of 1330 South Barbier Avenue, Thibodaux, LA, on felony charges arising from a crime of violence on May 13, 2022, in Napoleonville, LA.

On the aforementioned date, deputies responded to a complaint of shots fired at a venue which was hosting a large event. Upon arrival, deputies located spent cartridges inside the venue and were able to confirm that a shooting incident had occurred.

Detectives responded and initiated an investigation and determined that during the event, a physical confrontation occurred amongst numerous individuals and at some point, several shots were fired resulting in 5 people sustaining non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

As a result of the investigation, Jakeem Ramon Coler was identified as the suspected shooter. Coler was arrested on Friday night in Thibodaux.

Jakeem Ramon Coler was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Attempted 2nd Degree Murder (2 Counts)
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Cruelty to Juveniles
*Aggravated Battery (4 Counts)

Jakeem Ramon Coler was ordered held without bond.
