Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man in connection with an investigation conducted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU). Dontrel Dan Johnson, 45, of Houma, was arrested on a charge of Third-Degree Rape.

On September 9, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division Deputies responded to a Houma residence following a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputies encountered a visibly shaken female victim who disclosed that she had been raped. Deputies quickly determined the suspect was still inside the residence and located him in a bedroom, where he was immediately taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Dontrel Dan Johnson, of Houma.

SVU Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Detectives conducted a detailed interview with the victim and also discovered several minor children inside the home, who were found unharmed. Through evidence collection and corroborated statements, Detectives were able to substantiate the victim’s allegations, which led to Johnson’s arrest.

Johnson was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a charge of Third-Degree Rape, and remains jailed on a $50,000 bond by local judges.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld for privacy, was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently recovering from injuries sustained during the incident.

Sheriff Soignet stated, “Our Detectives are working closely with the victim and her family to bring resolution to this unfortunate case. We ask the public to respect the victim’s privacy and allow time for healing. Our investigators remain committed to ensuring that this dangerous perpetrator is brought to justice.”
