Suspect Charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder in Connection with Shooting During Large Gathering in Assumption Parish Park

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Warren Verrett, III, 24, of 176 Georgette Street, Napoleonville, LA, on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder in connection to a shooting at a heavily attended event at Dorseyville Park located off of LA 70 and Daggs Street in Paincourtville.

On Saturday afternoon a large contingent of people attended a celebratory event.As the afternoon progressed, a shooting incident occurred which resulted in one individual sustaining serious injuries.  The victim was transferred to a medical facility for treatment.

An investigation by Sheriff’s Detectives commenced immediately and Warren Verrett, III was quickly identified as a suspect in the shooting. Warrants were secured for the arrest of Warren Verrett, III.

On Sunday evening, Warren Verrett, III turned himself in to detectives and was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Attempted Second Degree Murder

*Illegal Use of Weapons and Dangerous Instrumentalities

Warren Verrett, III remains incarcerated with bond set at $350,000.
