BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of 22-year-old Caleb Rashawn Givens from Morgan City, LA, following an attempted traffic stop on U.S. 90 last Friday evening. A deputy noticed a vehicle with an equipment violation heading westbound and tried to pull it over.

Initially, the driver, later identified as Givens, got out of the car but then got back in and sped away, leading deputies on a chase. The passenger exited and refused to get back in. Givens eventually abandoned the car near Gibson and ran off but was caught with the help of a K-9 unit.

Givens, who was wanted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office on an unrelated warrant, now faces multiple felony charges including aggravated flight from an officer and aggravated assault upon a peace officer with a motor vehicle. He is currently being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center with a bond set at $60,000.

The passenger, Matt Alexander Stewart, 29, from Gibson, LA, also faces charges – police are seeking a warrant for his arrest for one count of resisting an officer.
