A suspect who was wanted in connection with a Franklin house fire last weekend has been arrested. 32-year-old Jrevon Jamarcus Anderson was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on Saturday evening at 7:13 pm and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Arson of an Inhabited Dwelling.

Anderson was identified as a suspect in connection with an investigation into a fire that damaged a home on Robert Street in Franklin last Saturday night, December 27. A warrant was issued for Anderson on Wednesday, December 31 as a result of a joint investigation by the Franklin Fire Department, Franklin Police Department, and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Fire crews were called to the 600 block of Robert Street around 11:21 pm after reports of a vehicle on fire near a home. Firefighters arrived within minutes and found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to two nearby houses. Crews quickly brought the fire under control within about 15 minutes.

Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to rescue several family pets from the homes. The Red Cross is assisting two families who were displaced by the fire.

A total of three fire engines, one service truck, and 13 firefighters responded to the scene. Franklin Fire Chief Bourgeois reminded residents to make sure smoke alarms are working and to never re-enter a home once safely out during a fire. He also thanked Centerville Fire, the Franklin Police Department, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Acadian Ambulance, CLECO, and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance.
