Suspect Apprehended After Stealing An Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Unit

On January 25, 2021, at approximately 2:00 pm, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance in the 4400 block of Old La. 25. Upon their arrival deputies attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect gained control of a marked Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicle and fled the area. Immediately, IPSO deputies initiated pursuit of the suspect.

The suspect, Steve Duhon (m, 48 yrs. old) fled down Hwy. 14 to Hwy. 90 through St. Martin Parish and into Lafayette Parish with IPSO deputies in pursuit. With assistance from Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police, the suspect was stopped at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Tower Dr. in Lafayette Parish. Steve Duhon was then apprehended by IPSO K-9 unit.

Steve Duhon was placed under arrested and later transferred to Lafayette General Medical Center for treatment. Once released, he will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with charges of Aggravated Flight and Unauthorized use of a vehicle and then transported to the Iberia Parish Jail.
