Suicidal Subject Taken Into Custody after Shooting at Berwick Police Officers

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard said there is currently an active scene in the 500 block of Ehrlich Street due to a subject who was suicidal and fired a shot at officers.

A complaint was received by the Berwick Police Department regarding an armed suicidal subject in a residence. Upon officers’ arrival, one shot was fired towards the officers.

The subject was disarmed and taken into custody without further incident. There were no injuries reported to police or civilians.

Berwick Elementary was placed on cautionary status out of an abundance of caution due to its close proximity. At no time were there any threats to students or the public.
