BAYOU VISTA — Louisiana State Police Troop I is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a Patterson woman early Monday morning.
According to investigators, the crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on May 11 along Louisiana Highway 182 near Field Road in Bayou Vista.
Preliminary findings indicate that 26-year-old Brea Paul of Patterson was walking along the shoulder of the highway when she was struck by an unidentified sedan traveling in an unknown direction. Authorities say the driver fled the scene following the collision.
Paul sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis.
