Voters in several areas of St. Mary Parish will consider several tax propositions. Of those, residents in Hospital Service District #2 of will vote on a 9 mills property tax that would generate approximately 32 million dollars over ten years to fund maintenance, improvements, recruitment of doctors and staffing at Ochsner St. Mary Hospital in Morgan City. Hospital Service District #2 runs from the Calumet Cut through Amelia.
If approved, the property tax is expected to cost the average homeowner $45 per year and would be reinstated after it was discontinued over 20 years ago by previous board members of the Hospital Service District.

Baldwin and Franklin voters will consider a 1 cent sales tax for public safety including police and fire protection. If approved, the tax would fund the hiring of additional police officers and firefighters, purchasing of new police units and fire trucks, training and equipment upgrades.
