St. Mary Parish Voters Approve Sales Tax to Give Teachers Pay Raises

St. Mary Parish voters overwhelmingly approved a new sales tax to provide public school teachers with a pay raise.  The .45 cent, 5 year sales tax was easily passed with 62% of voters approving the tax with 38% voting no.

Certified teachers will received a $3,000 per year raise with a $1,500 pay increase for support workers.
