On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Lt. Oscar West and Det. Lt. David Spencer spoke with the East St. Mary Ministerial Alliance about Church Security Teams.

The presentation included considerations for starting a team, training of church security teams, and resources for church security teams.

Church security is a topic that both deputies are passionate about, as they are ministers as well as law enforcement officers. Sheriff Gary Driskell believes the work of ministers in our community is very important and considers the partnership of the SMPSO with our faith community an important investment.
