The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office says Sheriff Gary Driskell is recovering after being transported to a local hospital Monday evening, July 6, for a non-life-threatening medical condition.
Officials say the hospitalization was a precautionary measure, and Sheriff Driskell is doing well. He is resting comfortably, remains in good spirits, and is expected to be discharged soon. The Sheriff is also expected to return to work within the next few days.
During his recovery, Sheriff Driskell has remained in contact with his command staff to ensure the Sheriff’s Office continues normal day-to-day operations without interruption.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed its appreciation for the many prayers, kind words, and well wishes from the community and asks that Sheriff Driskell’s privacy be respected as he continues to recover.
