School Violence Threat Clarified for St. Mary Parish

St. Mary Parish school authorities were informed about a group message circulating in Franklin, discussing potential school violence aimed at a school called LaGrange. It has been confirmed that the mentioned school pertains to Lake Charles’ city and not the St. Mary’s LaGrange Elementary School.

At no point were LaGrange Elementary or St. Mary Parish students at risk. Nevertheless, parents received a clarifying message this morning.

As an added safety measure, local law enforcement and Student Resource Officers will collaborate with schools today to maintain the protection and security of all students, staff, and school premises.
