The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that the Charenton Drainage Canal Bridge, located on LA 182 (Main Street) in Baldwin between Yokley Road and Newman Street, will undergo a temporary closure on Monday, March 4. The bridge will be inaccessible from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform routine bridge inspections. Officials have noted that during the closure period, emergency vehicle passage will not be possible in the affected segment.
Motorists are advised to take an alternative route comprising of LA 318, US 90, and LA 3211. The DOTD expresses gratitude for the public’s patience and cooperation during this time. Moreover, they urge drivers to exercise increased caution near the inspection site and remain vigilant for the presence of work crews and their equipment.
