ASSUMPTION – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says they have been receiving reports of an ongoing scam which targets grandparents.
The department said scam callers contact people and advise them their grandchild has been involved in an accident and needs money. In many of these cases, the caller either represents themselves as the grandchild or on occasion, puts someone else on the line and that person represents themselves to be the grandchild.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging all residents not to send money where instructed, but to terminate the call.
