Residents Warned of Jury Duty Scam by Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office of Iberia Parish has issued an alert after a series of reports about fraudulent calls concerning Failure to Appear Warrants for Jury Duty. Individuals impersonating officers, using the names Detective Davenport or Detective Washington, have been falsely informing residents of a supposed missed Jury Duty and consequent arrest warrants. These calls are also demanding payments to resolve the alleged warrants. The IPSO clarifies that no such detectives are employed with them and that they never contact citizens with threats of imminent arrest.

Citizens are advised that requests for settling payments via gift cards are a clear indication of a scam attempt and should be reported immediately.
