Potential Threat Under Investigation at Morgan City High School

A potential threat is under investigation at Morgan City High School. According to the Morgan City Police Department, no credible threat has been found. The school was evacuated and all students and staff are safe. Morgan City Fire Department is also standing by at the scene.

St. Mary Superintendent of Schools Dr. Teresa Bagwell issued the following statement,

An evacuation has been ordered for Morgan City High School in response to messages of a potentially threatening nature that were reported to the school’s administration. Emergency personnel, including police and fire departments are on the school’s campus to conduct a thorough search of the building before returning students to class. Mr. Tim Hymel, Principal of MCHS, safely conducted the evacuation process and has contacted parents using the school district’s J-Campus messaging system.”
