A Morgan City man was arrested on Monday after he was reportedly seen attempting to enter a home in Patterson and allegedly stole items from another home later in the day.

Patterson Police Chief Garret Grogan tells KQKI News that his department received a call Monday at approximately 10:15 am from a David Drive resident who said a man had opened her front and back doors and  entered her residence before walking away towards Veterans Drive. The man was described as a White male, wearing gray sweatpants, jacket, red baseball cap and black tennis shoes.  Photos from security cameras, which were provided to KQKI News, showed the man standing in the patio of the home. Photos from the footage may be viewed below.

At approximately 12:45 pm, the police department received a call stating the man was seen running without a shirt and possibly armed near Sonic in Patterson.  Officers located the man, identified as 42-year-old Phillip Kenneth Lodrigue of Morgan City, on St. Peter Street. Grogan said Lodrigue had in his possession a red folding chair, jewelry box, cash money and paperwork belonging to an individual from Morgan City. He was arrested and transported to Patterson Police Department. Grogan said Lodrigue was not in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.

Later Monday afternoon at approximately 3:09 pm, the Patterson Police Department received a call from a St. Peter Street resident stating that someone had broken into her home. She said the alleged burglar had dropped some of her jewelry on the outside of the home near a gate

The resident listed several items that were missing from her home including jewelry and a jewelry box.  She also advised officers that dresser drawers in the master bedroom had been pulled out with the contents of the drawers left on the floor. The resident was then asked to go to the police department where she was able to identify the jewelry box.

Lodrigue was charged with 1 count of Felony Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and 1 count of Felony Unauthorized Entry.  He remains incarcerated in the Patterson Police Department Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
