PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of 29-year-old Gage Austin Gros of 5882 Highway 1, Paincourtville, on a first-degree rape charge stemming from a series of alleged incidents between July 2022 and July 2025.

According to investigators, on or about July 26, 2025, a girl under the age of 12 reported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas that she had been raped multiple times by a close biological relative at a residence near Paincourtville, Louisiana. Texas authorities launched an investigation and later turned over their findings to Assumption Parish detectives in October 2025.

Detectives in Assumption Parish continued the investigation, identifying Gros as the suspect. Based on the evidence, investigators obtained and executed multiple search warrants, recovering items relevant to the case.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gros, charging him with First-Degree Rape. He was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he remains held pending a bond hearing.
