A Wednesday afternoon fire in Franklin resulted in heavy damage to a home. At 12:53 pm, Franklin Fire Department and Centerville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of West Third Street for a house on fire.
Franklin fire crews arrived on scene within two minutes and reported heavy black smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home, and the requested additional aid from Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department. Crews quickly deployed multiple hose lines to make an aggressive attack on the fire and brought it under control within 20 minutes.
There were no injuries reports to civilians or firefighters. Franklin Police Department provided traffic control with Cleco also responding to the scene.
Franklin Fire Department would like to remind citizens that it is against State Statute RS32:287 to drive over a fire hose deployed in the street. Crossing a fire hose is extremely dangerous to the firefighters in the area, and can cause significant damage to a vehicle.
