Morgan City Police Department Seeks Information in Animal Abandonment Case

The Morgan City Police Department is asking for help from the public in identifying a person of interest in a recent animal abandonment case.

On a recent afternoon, officers from the MCPD were notified of two small dogs running loose in a local business’s parking lot. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the dogs had been abandoned at that location by their owner. Video footage from the scene shows a silver SUV pulling into the lot, unloading the dogs, and driving away, with no regard for the animals’ safety.

The dogs were recovered and are currently in safe custody. The MCPD is asking anyone who may know the person or recognize the vehicle in the video to please contact the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division at 985-380-4605 with any information that could help identify the owner of the SUV.
