According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Morgan City man was apprehended quickly Sunday morning after he reportedly shot at an occupied house in Gray. This was made possible through a cooperative effort between Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies, detectives and other local agencies.

Deputies were dispatched to the 2700 block of West Park Avenue at about 8:46 a.m. Jan. 17, for a report of shots fired and learned that the estranged husband of a woman in the house had fired the shots and then fled in a flatbed truck, according to Sheriff Tim Soignet.

Sheriff Soignet said through dispatchers broadcasting a description of the vehicle, Louisiana State Police was able to locate and stop the vehicle on US 90.

“Coordination by our Patrol, Detective and Crime Scene divisions resulted in information and evidence to be gathered which resulted in the suspect being charged,” Sheriff Soignet said.

28 year old Joseph Acosta was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and booked for aggravated assault with a firearm.

Sheriff Soignet said, “Our different divisions functioned together like clockwork, and I am grateful for their successful efforts. I want to thank the Louisiana State Police and Thibodaux City Police for the role they played in this case. Together we are stronger.”
