A home on 4th Street in Morgan Street sustained damage after the Morgan City Fire Department responded to call just before 7:00 am Sunday morning for a fire in the home’s attic. Morgan City Assistant Fire Chief John MacDougall said the occupants were able to safely escape and the fire was brought under control.
MacDougall said the damage was mostly confined to the attic and firefighters had to cut and pull down some ceilings to drop burnt blown-in insulation and AC flex duct. He said the cause of the fire was an electrical short in the home’s HVAC equipment and ductwork.
