Morey Park Restrooms Locked After Recent Discovery

The City of Patterson said it would begin locking Morey Park’s restroom doors due to recent vandalism inside the restrooms. Patterson Mainstreet Chairman, Slade Sanders, said he walked into the bathroom on Sunday and found hypodermic needles, condoms, feces, and urine everywhere. “I was so mad Sunday, guys; I would have went to jail if I’d a knew who did that to our bathrooms,” said Sanders while addressing Mayor and Council in Thursday night’s special meeting at City Hall in Patterson. Sanders also told the Mayor and Council that this was the third time that this had happened.

Sanders went to the park after seeing a post in a local Facebook group about a child locked in the restroom.

Mayor Grogan said Facebook is not the way to contact him, and “If you really want to get in contact with the Mayor, you call 985-518-1861, city cell phone”. Mayor Grogan also stated, “I will not answer to social media in regard to city problems, and for someone that was trapped in a restroom, you call 985-395-6161, which is Patterson PD.”

The City locked the doors to the restrooms beginning on Thursday. However, if someone plans an event at the park, they can contact City Hall to request a key to enter the restrooms.
