On Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 6:40 pm, deputies responded to a call of a welfare concern at a residence on Southwest Road in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival at the residence, two women were discoveredin a small structure behind the residence. Heather Dupre, 35, of Bayou Vista had multiple lacerations and was deceased. Skilan Gros, 28, of Bayou Vista had a single gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a medical facility.

Through the investigation, detectives have found no evidence to suggest the involvement of a third person in the incident.

“This is a tragic incident, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends,” said Chief Deputy Gary Driskell. “Our detectives are still processing evidence, but we are confident in our determination that the incident was confined to these two people, and not the result of a third person.”

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
