Interim Police Chief Mark E. Griffin Jr. and the Morgan City Police Department announced on Thursday that, effective immediately, the MCHS Track and Field Facility will be closed to Public Use from 6:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, while school is in session.
Over the past couple of weeks, the Morgan City Police Department has been involved in a collaborative effort with officials from the St. Mary Parish School Board and Morgan City Junior High over security concerns at the School. The Department said during discussions, it was determined that securing the MCHS Track & Field Facility was in the best interest for children who attend the school.
For those that do like to utilize the track and field during these hours, other alternatives are the Lake End Park Walking Trail or Cypress Park located behind the Morgan City Auditorium.
