Stephensville resident Anthony Cannata, aged 45, was apprehended by Berwick Police on the afternoon of February 22, 2024, following reports of gunfire. At around 3:30 PM, authorities were alerted to shots being fired in the vicinity of an apartment complex located in Country Club Estates Area, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.
According to witnesses at the scene, it appeared that the shooting originated from a nearby wooded area. Even as police investigated, the sound of gunshots persisted. An extensive search led officers to discover an individual discharging a firearm behind a business establishment situated within city limits. The individual was identified as Cannata.
Cannata was detained by police and charged with illegal discharge of a firearm within city limits. Cannata was released after being issued a summons to appear in court.
