Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of 18-year-old Hunter Lirette of Houma, who faces a felony charge of attempted aggravated arson. The arrest stems from a disturbance complaint investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division.
On May 27, shortly before 12:00 pm, deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of Ja Don Drive. The caller reported that Lirette was attempting to set the residence on fire using lighter fluid. When deputies arrived, they detected a strong odor of lighter fluid on the caller, who had been sprayed by Lirette and threatened with being set on fire. The caller had engaged in a physical altercation with Lirette in an attempt to stop him.
Further investigation revealed evidence of lighter fluid sprayed throughout the home, confirming Lirette’s actions. Deputies learned that Lirette had fled the area before their arrival and began searching the surrounding area. He was soon located hiding in a nearby wooded area and taken into custody.
Lirette was arrested on charges of attempted aggravated arson, as well as outstanding warrants unrelated to the incident. He is currently being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $55,000 bond set by local judges.
