PIERRE PART – Tyler Joseph Chenevert, a 29-year-old Gonzales resident, has been arrested on multiple felony charges following a high-speed chase in Assumption Parish on Monday evening. Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrests, which stemmed from a traffic stop attempt on LA-70 west of LA 1.

A patrolling sheriff’s deputy noticed a westbound vehicle violate a traffic law and attempted to pull it over. However, the driver sped off, leading deputies on a pursuit that reached speeds of over 100 mph through Pierre Part. The driver then turned into the Landry Subdivision area, where deputies eventually found the vehicle parked in a driveway on Keith Street.

Chenevert was discovered inside the residence with its front door open. A struggle broke out when deputies tried to arrest him, but they managed to overpower and detain him quickly. He was taken to Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges including Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence, Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License, and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Chenevert remains in jail with bail set at $285,000.
