Alexandria, La. (Feb. 02, 2022) – The Louisiana Travel Association (LTA) introduced Accommodation of the Year/Full-Service Lodging: Clarion Inn Morgan City; as the winner of the Full Service Accommodation of the Year during its Annual Meeting last week in Alexandria, La.
This year, LTA presented 21 “Louey Awards” to honor and showcase individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the Louisiana tourism industry
The LTA said that like so many businesses in Louisiana, the Clarion Inn has spent the last two years navigating Covid and multiple natural disasters.
With a smaller than normal team, the hotel and restaurant remained open to serve guests at the beginning of the pandemic, implementing curbside pickup and delivery. The also sent resources to Lake Charles and hosted recovery crews after Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
When 2021’s Hurricane Ida made landfall just 35 miles from this property, they partnered with local organizations to provide meals, snacks, restrooms and WiFi to those in need. They also housed crews of linemen, caring for them before the property’s own power was restored.
After learning of linemen sleeping in their vehicles, the General Manager Kristy Toups solicited donations and filled the 2,500 square feet of meeting space with blankets, air mattresses, pillows and toiletries. The staff then spent weeks assisting linemen and recovery crews with shower facilities, meals, laundry and more. Crews raved about the unmatched hospitality in Morgan City, Louisiana.
“We are excited to be a winner of the Full Service Accommodation of the Year Award from the Louisiana Travel Association,” said Kristy Toups, Manager of the Clarion Inn. “We look forward to continuing to showcase our great Louisiana culture to the rest of the world.”
