Franklin Fire Chief  Chuck Bourgeois says the cause of a Sunday evening fire is under investigation by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office. At approximately 7:28 pm, Franklin and Centerville fire departments were dispatched to the 500 block of Augustine Maze Street for a structure fire.  Firefighters arrived to find intense flames engulfing the back of the property. They swiftly deployed hoses and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.

During the aftermath, signs of potential fire accelerants were detected, prompting the call for the  Louisiana State Fire Marshal to conduct a thorough investigation, which is ongoing at this time. Bourgeois said there were no reported injuries, and the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
