Juvenile Arrested On Attempted First Degree Murder Charge Stemming From November Shooting incident

The Morgan City Police Department says they have arrested a Juvenile in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on November 8, 2022. They said an officer with the department was patrolling the area of Garber Street. Officers were conducting proactive patrols due to reports of gunfire in the area that was reported earlier in the shift.

While doing so the officer observed a vehicle in the area pull up on Garber Street and began firing a firearm from the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the area. One victim was struck by gunfire and was treated at a local area hospital for their injures. The officer pursued the vehicle. The vehicle fled to the area of Maple Street when five individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers located four of the five suspects that fled on foot. Terrence Scott, Raheem Green, Sterling Tillman, and Deante Pharagood were arrested as reported in an earlier arrest report. One male juvenile, who was 16 years of age at the time, fled the area and was not apprehended.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division responded. In all, investigators located and recovered 5 firearms, two of which were reported stolen from the Morgan City and Lafourche Parish areas. Evidence was uncovered in the investigation identifying and linking the juvenile male to the crime.

The investigation continued and arrest warrants were prepared for the juvenile’s. The juvenile was located and arrested in Ascension Parish on January 25, 2023, with assistance from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and detained in a juvenile detention facility awaiting court proceedings.

  • Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile
