Jeanerette Police Asking For Public Assistance In Locating Man Involved In Homicide

The Jeanerette Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in reference to the homicide that occurred June 16, 2023 near the 1800 Block of Peach Street, in Jeanerette, LA, the Jeanerette Police Department has made the following arrest: 18 year old, Jeremy Smith Jr., was arrested, booked and processed for LRS: 14:30 First Degree Murder.

The department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the second person involved in the incident. Authorities said 19-year-old Jason Joe Jr. is wanted for Principal to First Degree Murder. Anyone who has seen or know the whereabouts of Jason Joe Jr., is urged to contact the Jeanerette Police Department at 337-276-6323. You can remain anonymous.

Jeanerette Police Chief Vallot said that any person or persons aiding Joe Jr. can and will be charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive.

Chief Vallot would like to thank Jeanerette Fire, Jeanerette Marshals, Iberia Parish Sheriff, St. Mary Parish Sheriff, Baldwin Police, and Chitimacha Police for all the work they have put into the case.
